I planned on visiting one of the featured vegan restaurants in Osaka, CASA de COMIDAS La PAPRICA ∙ Vegan. But maybe because I arrived at the restaurant too early that it was still under preparations.
I walked around and thought I could go back later when it would be open. I walked back. It was still close.
Dragging my feet and roaming around to find a new one… Something fun drew our attention! Haha … this vending machine was interesting. You could play jackpot in vending machine! Prize… not too sure… a free drink?
Woot! a catchy Ko-Hi Kan (café) caught my eyes! I walked around and discovered the nostalgic popular Totoro decorations surrounding the cafe. This has definitely casted away the rest of the shops and buildings in this place! It related my mind to fashion-display mannequins. It was said the better it had displayed for your mannequins, the better your fashion sells. You could see the owner has put into a lot of effort in decorating it.
Fascinated by the all the decorations, I looked around at took a few shots.
I pushed the door and walked in. At the doorstep, you could see the vintage Coca-cola cash register, vintage phones and some magazines racks.
The bar counter was on the left side while all the tables were served on the right. I sat down and placed our order. Many people would have expected this Totoro-decorated café was more for kids. Mhm … not quite. It seemed like this café was more for working male adults though. After I walked in, there were a couple of male working adults stepped into the cafe. Then I discovered that it was a café allowed smoking. At the top corner of the space, there was a TV showing some sexy dancing show.
Two sets of breakfast were ordered. One set was a cup of milk and a cheese cake while another set was a cup of black coffee and a mayonaised-filled toast. Each set was 500 yen. The sugar pot was like those I could see in Jap anime or manga. I liked the warm towel they offered. They could be washed and recycled. Not many café or restaurants bothered to do it.
I liked the cheese cake as it was not too cakey and cheesy. It was light. The coffee was good. The mayo toast was surprizingly delicious! I had no idea what magic ingredient in that toast. There was a black bean like in the mayonnaise filling. I don’t think it was red bean.
This café serves as a breeze in a city for working adults.
